Developing students’ skills in Mathematics through meaningful and engaging learning experiences is a key focus in the middle school.

Our programs are informed by both the Western Australian Curriculum and the Australian Core Skills Framework. Students develop fluency with basic facts, number sense and mathematical vocabulary and learn strategies to help them solve a range of mathematical problems.

In Mathematics we develop the numeracy skills of using and applying mathematical knowledge and problem solving processes across the three content areas: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.

We use a range of assessments to identify and describe students’ performance in Mathematics. Students’ areas of strength and need are identified so that teaching can be targeted to areas of need and their progress monitored over time. This information is clearly articulated in the student’s Individual Education Plan .
