Work Place Learning

In senior school, students engage in Workplace Learning which involves training and assessment in a real workplace. This provides students with the opportunity to put skills learnt at school into practise in their chosen industry. Students attend a variety of workplaces over the year and usually participate in one week blocks, twice a term. This helps the students to gain confidence in the workplace, assisting them in working within a team and understanding the tasks, roles and responsibilities of employees in each workplace.

Students who attend Workplace Learning develop core skills for work that are transferable to other aspects of their lives. These skills include:

  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Problem Solving
  • Self-Management
  • Planning and Organising
  • Use of Technology
  • Learning
  • Initiative and Enterprise
